We run in normal winter weather. In a significant storm we delay the route to the next possible working day, and a bad storm can take more than one day to clear. We stay in contact when that happens. Delays go on the homepage, by email and on Facebook.
We run in ordinary winter weather. Rain, cold and a few inches of snow do not stop a route.
In a serious storm we hold the route back and run it on the next possible working day. That call is about the crews, not the trucks. A driver walking between a parked truck and a tote on an unplowed street in a whiteout is the part of this job that gets people hurt.
Sometimes a storm takes more than a day to clear. Roads stay unplowed, or the cleanup runs longer than anyone expected. When that happens we will not leave you guessing. We stay in contact and tell you when we are coming.
What helps us most in winter:
When we delay a route we say so in three places: on the homepage, by email to customers, and on our Facebook page. Your normal day is on the weekly and holiday schedule.
We answer the phone Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If your question is about your own address, a call is always faster than a form.
