What time do my totes need to be out?

By 7 a.m. on your pickup day. Earlier is safer. Most of the people who call us about a missed pickup had their totes out somewhere between 7:00 and 7:30, which on a fast route is too late.

Setting them out the night before is fine and is what we would suggest if your mornings are tight. If you are not sure which day is yours, the weekly and holiday schedule lists every town we serve.

A few things that make the pickup go cleanly:

• Wheels toward the house, handle toward the street. That is the direction the truck arm expects.
• Give each tote about three feet of clearance from the other tote, parked cars, mailboxes, fire hydrants and low branches.
• Lid closed and flat. A propped-open lid can spill on the lift.
• Keep them off the road surface where you can, at the edge of the driveway or the apron.
